DADDYS PLIZ LET MUMS HANDLE YOUR DAUGHTERS' HAIR

I read a post on a facebook page about how  this mum had washed and treated her four year old's hair ready for blowdry then hubby came home and shaved off all of it while mummy was in the bathroom.
How would you feel if you were the mum?
Personally I would be angry. Very angry.

This reminded me of a scenario with our daughter's hair and how my mum supported by her dad decided her hair should be shaved.

It was December 2014, We had gone to the village for Christmas holidays and I had plaited Anita very nice 'Dabrat' dreads.
                                                    Fig. 1 Dabrat hair do

At home she liked to play in the sand, water, grass and on a tractor that had lots of grease. Of course I din't like her making herself dirty but mum said I should let her be as she misses such atmosphere in the city.
Fig2 Anita playing in the village

Her hair got so dirty and unkempt so we had to undo it.
As usual combing it was drama and she kept crying while I did it.

Fig 3. Dad and mum undoing Anita's unkempt hair.

I could say I am used to the hair making drama since it only lasts for 10minutes.
I have maintained her hair long since she was 3 months and this is how she behaves.
At 3 months my mum shaved her while I was asleep and it really broke my heart to see her bald.
But now I am determined to keep the hair come rain or sunshine.
I know it ain't very comfortable making it since its the African kinky type but once its done it looks perfect on her.

So her dad came and found her crying as I combed it and he could not bear the pain and suggested we should cut it.
My mum came in full support of the idea but I would listen to non of it.
It was a big fight as I vehemently opposed and said I would handle our daughter's hair and daddy should wait for when we will have sons and take them to the barber.

It became such a big fight that went on for some time. I got a nice salonist who cuddles her and plaited her gently till she sleeps. She has done the
She still hates salon time but her hair is growing steadily and becoming easier to handle.

I wont make promises of her not crying but will try and be most gentle with it.
'Mwanamke ni kuvumilia'

Fig.4 Anita's latest hair style

The fight finally died out when I sent this photo to her dad. He appreciated the hard work I've been doing and we agreed to keep the hair.

See what mums had to say on this lady's incident of the dad shaving clean the daughter's hair.

Beatrice feeling sad
What would u do if your hubby comes home cuts your little one's hair wen u have washed and treated it ready for blowdry.
I don't know why but this thing has made me hate him.Am the mother to this child i have rights to know which is good and bad to my children.he doesn't care about my feeling i loved my daughter's hair more than mine.i always make sure she is smart hata nikiwa broke. I suffered 4 yrs trying to conceive, nikafukuzwa na kutusiwa but now because i have her, she is everything to me harafu mwanaume akuje amunyoe. He has started a war btwn us and am going to keep my daughter's hair as the reminder.I alwais plait my daughters hair and she always cries wen taking bath so kwangu ni kitu nimezoea. sasa analia kichwa inauma coz ya baridi.Thinking of cutting mine too hata mimi ni mtoto wa babangu. Met my gal crying "dad amekata nywele yangu" i cried.

  • Wairimu This is a relationship where good communication is lacking. Even if he has a right to cut her hair, he should have had the discussion with the wife. And those saying that the mom plaited the hair without permission - two wrongs don't make a right. And some things are as obvious as putting clothes on the baby. I would hit back by analysing what item of cloth or shoe he likes....then it would malaysian. Men only understand actions. Nkt

Mum sulked, cried, whining on and on about the amount of time and money spent on my hair but reality was...I felt free and happy. Did anyone here play 'kati ya dust' (the one u tuck in your dress in your pantie and fill up the bottle in the center with dust while avoiding being hit by the small ball). I looooooved this 'kati' and 'blada' but couldn't play especially after a salon weekend. That haircut meant freeeeedom to be all dusty and just wash it off. My aunts would say I looked like a boy but that never bothered me!

  • Afandi Look at the behavioural trend of your hubby. If the pros exceed the cons, don't adore hair. If God would be sending down fire as a result of one sin committed (the way we do)..... I would not be writing this. "Forgive us our trespasses as WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US....." Unforgiveness is like taking poison and expecting whoever wronged you to die....don't ruin your marriage because of hair.
